Screenworks announces Tanya Modini as guest consultant for the October round of Member Consultations.

Tanya made a splash in the world of shorts when her debut, THE MOTHS WILL EAT THEM UP (co-directed with Luisa Martiri) took home the 2022 Dendy Award for Best Live Action Short and the Rouben Mamoulian Award for Best Director at the Sydney Film Festival. THE MOTHS WILL EAT THEM UP went on to screen at festivals across Australia and overseas including the Brisbane International Film Festival and CinefestOz, Clermont-Ferrand and Aesthetica, before landing an AACTA nomination for Best Short Film.

Not only is Tanya a triple-threat writer, director and producer, she's also a Screenworks program alumni and recent WIFT Mentor. 

Four half-hour consultation slots with Tanya are available exclusively to regional, rural and remote Screenworks members. These are open on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

This opportunity is recommended for early-career members working on their first short film, and who are seeking tips and advice on everything involved in bringing the film to life including budgeting, financing, crowdfunding, working as a co-producer and co-director, as well as the short film journey, from finance to festivals.

All four consultation slots are online and will run back-to-back from 2pm to 4pm (Australian Daylight Savings Time) on Wednesday, 30 October. Please factor in Daylight Savings.

ABOUT TANYA:

Tanya Modini is an award-winning regional filmmaker based on the Sunshine Coast. She draws inspiration from her previous work as a police officer, trauma counsellor, and gendered violence researcher.

The short film she wrote and co-directed, THE MOTHS WILL EAT THEM UP, was selected for the Sydney Film Festival 2022 where it won the Dendy Award for Best Live Action Short, and the Rouben Mamoulian Award for Best Director.

Tanya's script for THE MOTHS WILL EAT THEM UP won the 2022 AWGIE in the short film category. The film was also nominated for a 2022 AACTA Award.

Tanya's script for her short film AND THE OCEAN AGREED was longlisted for the Monte Miller Awards 2022. In 2023, Tanya directed and produced the film, which is now on the festival circuit, and has already screened at several US festivals including Academy Award qualifying Indy Shorts Film Festival, Dances With Films LA, Sidewalk Film Festival, and the Dallas International Film Festival.

Recently, Tanya and Luisa Martiri produced the short film PLEASURE SEEKING by writer-director Michaela Holmes, which is currently in post-production.

The pilot episode of the series Tanya created and is currently developing, LOVE LIES, was longlisted for the AWG Emerging Writers Awards 2024.
