Kauthar Abdulalim is an Australian-Muslim filmmaker with East-African and South-Asian heritage. She is the winner of the BMW Short Film Competition at the 2018 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and a graduate of Cinespace Inc.’s Story Lab initiative. Kauthar was awarded a one year ‘Social Change on Screen’ Writer’s Fellowship by Cinespace Inc. and the Australian government in 2019, and has received Screen Australia development funding for her comedy web-series, ‘Salma’s Season’. Kauthar has worked on feature documentary productions with the ABC & SBS in the capacities of an Impact Producer and Production Manager. She has founded her own independent production company, Blacksand Pictures, where she is developing an exciting slate of projects with both new and experienced creators. Her most recent online series ‘#MATCHED’ has been funded for production for season two by Screen Australia, Film Victoria and TikTok. Kauthar has a degree in Islamic Studies, is pursuing her Masters in Arts Management and continues to work as an Impact Producer in social justice filmmaking.

Alyce Adams is an Investment and Development Manager at Screen Australia in the Online department. Her role includes managing development, production and completion funding for multiple online projects across YouTube, Facebook, ABC iView, SBS OnDemand, Netflix and Stan, as well as several VR projects that have been accepted into Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals. Alyce deals with creators, writers, producers, platforms, broadcasters and other humans every day, using her years of experience working in the online sector to give guidance on the best way to create unique content that will reach a global audience.

LOUISE COCKS is an Investment and Development Manager for the Online Department at Screen Australia. She joined the Online team in 2019 having previously worked as a Film Programmer for Village Cinemas Australia and as an actor in touring shows.
Her role involves assessing and managing development, production and completion funding for series which release on online platforms, and has managed projects which have been selected for CanneSeries and SXSW. Louise has worked across initiatives with external partners including the Digital Originals workshops with SBS, TikTok’s Every Voice Initiative, and Skip Ahead with YouTube. She is passionate about supporting and developing emerging creators.

Jeanie joined Screenworks in early 2021 from Screen Australia, where she managed the Documentary Development slate as Investment/Development Manager for two and a half years. As part of that role, she also managed a number of initiatives including the agency’s joint commissioning initiative with AI Jazeera Witness, the Art Bites series with the ABC, and the Doculab project incubator with the South Australian Film Corporation.

Before Screen Australia, Jeanie’s background was in film and TV production, including 10 years in the UK producing programmes for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky and Five, followed by senior executive roles as Head of Factual and Head of Development for leading independent production companies in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. She’s developed and produced programmes across a wide range of genres for many international broadcasters, notably Discovery, History Channel, National Geographic, ABC and Seven (Australia), TVNZ and TV3 (New Zealand).

She also has extensive experience field producing and directing broadcast and digital social impact content around the world for high-profile non-profit organisations including UNICEF, Amnesty International and Comic Relief.

Claudia is currently the Industry Engagement Officer at Screen Tasmania. Prior to this, she was the person you’d call when you needed a top-notch Assistant Director (or an engaging anecdote). After graduating from the Victorian College of Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Directing, she was an assistant director attachment onThe Nightingale. Since then she has worked across Victoria, New South Wales, and Tasmania as an Assistant Director on numerous TV and film productions such as Rosehaven, Peter Rabbit 2, Pieces of Her, and La Brea (to name a few). Most recently she produced the comedy series hot Department: Dark Web which one Best Comedy Series and Best Editing at Melbourne WebFest.

Evan Maloney has worked in the screen industry for more than twenty five-years. In the late 90s he worked as a development consultant for Tony Kaye Productions in London, in the 2000s he worked as a development executive with Utopia Films in Portugal (The Crimes of Father Amaro, Second life) and Arcadia Moving Pictures in Poland (Inheritance, Men for Hire).

Returning to Australia in 2010 he began working as Screen Tasmania’s Development Manager and has worked with producers and writers on dozens of projects including The Hunter, The Kettering Incident, The Gloaming, Rosehaven and more recently Bay of Fires. His novel Tofu Landing was published in the UK in 2010 by Quartet Books.

Danielle joined Screen Tasmania as the Industry Development Manager in early 2022, where she is responsible for initiatives and industry development working with a wide range of stakeholders and practitioners. Prior to this, she oversaw the Industry division at the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) in Melbourne for six editions, where she managed a slate of initiatives aimed at project development and connecting filmmakers with industry decision makers (both international and domestic).

In the past, she worked in producing and programming roles at film festivals including the Tribeca Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Sundance, and the Melbourne International Film Festival. She also has a background in production, and worked on Steve McQueen's award-winning film Shame.

She began her career at Australia’s SBS Television and holds a Master’s degree in Communication Law from the University of Technology Sydney, and a BA (Cinema Studies) from the University of Melbourne.

In early 2020, Michelle co-produced and co-directed Love Songs, the world’s first narrative web series for TikTok. Season 2 was made in partnership with Tinder. The series has more than 140k followers, 25 million views and 2.8 million likes. After this success, Michelle co-produced Scattered, the first TikTok series to be funded by Screen Australia and VicScreen. As the Creative Director of youth entertainment agency Amplify, Michelle is leading the production of 5 Spotify Original Podcasts, TikTok's first music reality show UNDSCVRD powered by Samsung, and several other cutting edge digital series. She is currently in development of adapting the YA novel What I Like About Me by Jenny Guillaume.

Max Miller is a Melbourne based director most known for his work in Aunty Donna. In 2020 the group saw the release of their first TV series, the AACTA nominated and ADG winning Aunty Donna’s Big ol’ House of Fun, made for Netflix originals in the US. The group also have a large YouTube channel with over 100 million views and 500,000+ subscribers which includes the AACTA and ADG nominated series Glennridge Secondary College.

Max has also directed all six episodes of the recent ABC series ‘Stories from Oz’ due for release later this year, a new comedy documentary by Chris Taylor and Andrew Hansen.

Max and Aunty Donna have also started their own production company, Haven’t You Done Well Productions, as well as a new YouTube channel, Grouse House - both of which have the purpose of growing the Australian comedy landscape, particularly in the online space. Their first show, Hug the Sun (which Max produced and was AACTA nominated), also saw the launch of the channel amassing 30k subscribers on debut and over half a million views.

Alex Sangston has headed up Screen Tasmania since February 2016; luckily enough joining the team just in time for the releases of Lion, The Kettering Incident and Rosehaven. Tasmanian screen production has continued to steadlkiy improve its scope, scale and capacity to now be capable of hosting projects like Deadloch and Bay of Fires.

Before moving back to Tassie (as a born and bred Tasmanian), Alex was at Screen Australia, running the Producer Offset and Co-production Unit from the agency’s inception in July 2008. In that role, Alex was responsible for certifying films for the producer offset and approving projects as Official Co-productions.

Alex has also worked at the Commonwealth Arts Department in Canberra on international screen production policy and programs, and in broadcasting and online content policy.
