Would you like to join us for lunch?
Screenworks is presenting a series of three webinars featuring representatives from each state and federal funding body showcasing their initiatives and funding opportunities and providing insight into current trends and issues in the screen sector. The webinar series will be a chance for Screenworks members and regional practitioners around the country to tune in over lunchtime to hear the latest from their funding bodies.
Each webinar will run for 1.5 hours and the speakers will be asked for tips and advice on how to be successful with funding, and then we will facilitate a general Q&A session.
It's your opportunity to ask your questions about the industry from your funding bodies. To get the most from the session, we recommend taking a look at the agencies' websites. This is a great way to target your questions in response to the information that's already available online.

Speakers
Lauren Edwards is a Film and Television producer with over 15 years of experience in the industry. Her longform credits include DIARY OF AN UBER DRIVER for ABCTV, the Internationally acclaimed series CLEVERMAN, Channel 7 ratings smash THE SECRET DAUGHTER and feature film THE SAPPHIRES, which won 11 AACTA Awards. Lauren has produced many short films that have been highly successful internationally. THE AMBER AMULET by Matthew Moore won the Crystal Bear for Best Short Film at the Berlin Film Festival 2013. BEAR directed by Nash Edgerton, was selected for Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival 2011 and Sundance Film Festival 2012. She is currently a Screen Investment Manager with Screen NSW.
A dynamic and accomplished leader, Caroline has over 19 years’ experience in the screen industry.
Caroline has held management, marketing and business development roles in both government and private sectors, including as Marketing and Business Development Director at Omnilab Media, Chief Executive Officer of Ausfilm, and General Manager of the Melbourne Film Office at VicScreen (then Film Victoria).
Most recently Caroline was the General Manager of Commercial and Marketing at Federation Square. Prior to this she led Deluxe Australia’s post-production businesses, DDP Studios and StageOne Sound, as their General Manager.
Caroline is a Board member of Ausfilm, and served on the Board of VicScreen (then Film Victoria) from 2013 to 2017.
Caroline also has extensive destination marketing experience which was developed over a 10-year period working in organisations such as Parks Victoria and Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria.
Alex
Sangston
Executive Manager at Screen Tasmania
Alex Sangston has headed up Screen Tasmania since February 2016; luckily enough joining the team just in time for the releases of Lion, The Kettering Incident and Rosehaven. Tasmanian screen production has continued to steadily improve its scope, scale and capacity to now be capable of hosting projects like Deadloch and Bay of Fires.
Before moving back to Tassie (as a born and bred Tasmanian), Alex was at Screen Australia, running the Producer Offset and Co-production Unit from the agency’s inception in July 2008. In that role, Alex was responsible for certifying films for the producer offset and approving projects as Official Co-productions.
Alex has also worked at the Commonwealth Arts Department in Canberra on international screen production policy and programs, and in broadcasting and online content policy.
As Head of Production, Chris oversees the design, development and implementation of production funding and production attraction, including our Business Development programs and policy.
Chris has worked in the Australian film and television industry for almost 15 years, most recently producing WA feature documentary, Facing Monsters, which made its world premiere at CinefestOZ 2021 and was an official selection at Slamdance 2022. As the founder of WA production company, Veerhuis Pictures, Chris is known for his exceptional standards of work across producing, creative development, project funding, location management, on set logistics and local community relations. His producing credits include feature films Breath and Red Dog: True Blue and his location management credits include Nine Perfect Strangers, Upright, Paper Planes, Jasper Jones and The Heights.
In 2018, Veerhuis Pictures partnered with global giants Warner Bros. and The Black List to launch the Australian Script Writing Opportunity, designed to discover the next generation of Australian screenwriters. Chris is a vocal advocate for homegrown talent and is dedicated to bringing exciting, fresh, long form drama and factual content into global distribution.

Screen Tasmania
