General Details:


  • Entry is free and by registration only and on a first come, first served basis. 
  • As places are strictly limited to 10 per class, please ensure you can make these dates before registering.
  • Please register for only 1 of the 2 weekends. If we have spare places, we will let people know. There will be a waitlist created for each weekend course.
  • Participants will be editing on PCs at CQU. Please bring along a pad and pen for jotting down notes.
  • Screenworks will provide tea and coffee. Please bring along a drink bottle and your own food or you can choose to purchase your lunch from the wide variety of cafes and food outlets nearby.
  • Each participant who completes both course days will receive a Certificate of Attendance from Screenworks.



Editing with Adobe - Beginners

Sat 20th & Sun 21st November | 9-5pm both days


This is a hands-on weekend course, designed for people interested in exploring the craft of video editing and digital storytelling.


Over the two days, you'll become familiar with the interface and tools in Adobe editing software, and learn about the processes and workflows needed to manage your own projects. You'll practice editing techniques used in drama, documentary and music montage by cutting your own short stories.


And there'll be time to ask lots of questions and talk about your own projects.

Level of experience:

Confident computer users with little or no prior experience using editing software.




Editing with Adobe Premiere Pro - Intermediate

Sat 27th & Sun 28th November | 9-5pm both days


This course is designed for people who've already been editing in Adobe Premiere Pro and would like to explore its capabilities further. A series of practical exercises will take you deeper into the functionality of the software and give you the tools to improve the quality of your content, through colour correction, sound editing and graphics. You'll have the opportunity to refine your media and project management, and look at options for expanding your workflows to incorporate other programs and third party media libraries.


As well as all the technical stuff, we'll spend plenty of time talking about the role of the editor as storyteller, and some techniques that can help shape your ideas.


And there'll be time to ask lots of questions and talk about your own projects.
