Screenworks Member Consultations

This week we have a Below the Line special for our members trying to break into crew roles in the film & TV industry. We have renowned art director and art department coordinator Jocelyn Thomas. Jocelyn is a Screenworks member and Northern Rivers local, and we have been lucky to grab her between jobs (her last job was Ryan Gosling's 'Fall Guy') to talk to five lucky Screenworks members.

There are five half hour slots with Jocelyn available to be booked via Glue Up on a first come, first served basis. Spots are only available to current Screenworks Regional Members and are best suited to crew looking to break into the industry, or practitioners with a project that needs art department/design advice. The Art Department is by far the biggest department on a film or TV set, comprising of many different sub departments and hundreds of roles, including design, props manufacture, set decorators, construction carpenters, scenic painters, on set props assistants and many more. About Jocelyn:

Hello!

I am a law & commerce University drop-out. After a detour through a media studies course, I honed my skills in the dark room, developing black & white films for me and my class mates, whilst enjoying live bands at the bar! My journey continued with a stint at a production company in Adelaide, specialising in high end TV Commercials. I was one of six full-time staff employing local and interstate freelance crew whenever a major TVC hit town.

Serendipity struck when the company closed down just as a significant film production landed in Adelaide and I found myself in the right place at the right time.

I was offered the role as Art Department Coordinator on Phillip Noyce's 'Rabbit-Proof Fence' which was one of the best experiences of my working life.  I have been fortunate to have been employed in film constantly ever since. I plan to keep doing so until someone calls cut!
