2023 Screenworks | Southern Cross University

SCREEN MEDIA CAREERS FORUM

10:30am - 1:00pm AEST Thursday 7 September 2023 - Via Zoom

How will you find your first screen industry job once your film studies are finished?

Perhaps you are desperately looking for advice from those who have already done it?

Join a group of experienced film and TV professionals for this informative and inspirational online event as they talk about their career journeys, and the work they do, and share advice for students and early career practitioners on how to break into the screen media industries.

Gemma Lee (Producer / Director Magic Hour), Paul Salty Brincat (Sound Recordist / Salty Dog Sound) and Ela Furdas (Post-production supervisor) will each share stories and advice to inspire those looking to pursue careers in areas including Directing, Producing, Sound Production and Recording, Post-production and Scrip/Concept Development.

The panel discussion will be facilitated by Andrew Jones, Media Lecturer, SCU and Uwe Terton, Course Coordinator, Bachelor of Digital Media, SCU. There will be plenty of opportunities for attendees to ask questions of the guest speakers. This part of the event is open to students and the wider public across Australia.

Following the panel discussion, Screenworks and Southern Cross University will introduce the Southern Cross University Mentorship Program 2023, and share information on how students can apply for this fantastic opportunity. Attendees can expect to hear from previous recipients and alumni talking about how it has jump-started their careers in the screen industry.

If you're serious about a career in screen media, this is a great opportunity to hear more about industry success stories and get vital tips and advice on breaking into this competitive industry.

This program is presented by Screenworks in partnership with Southern Cross University.
